At some time in life most, every person experiences joint and muscle pain. Keeping this in mind, the body is supported by bones and muscles. If there is an injury or dysfunction to these joints or muscles the body can become inhibited from utilizing healthy, safe, and ideal movement patterns. Movement can be compared to orchestra members playing a symphony. If just one instrument is out of tune the entire symphony is impacted. Likewise, if joint or muscle pain is experienced the body can be systemically effected.
For example, we see patients at Healthy Walk who are compensating to manage the injury. This compensation often makes the joint and muscle pain worse. These compensatory processes/behaviors may help to make the condition worse. Consequently, this is where treatment planning, education, and physical therapy intermediation can help. By addressing the causality of injury and timely intervention the long term impact can be minimized. Our goal at Healthy Walk is to provide evidence-based treatment planning while working with muscles, bones, nerves, neuro-chemical interplay, and essentially the entire body to improve, maintain, and optimize holistic patient functioning.
